CIAMA PARTNERS WITH OPTIMUM RESOURCES ON PRODUCTION MANAGEMENT TRAINING

The Director General of The Certified Institute of Applied Management And Administration-CIAMA, Dr. Olaniyi Opanuga has said that industrialization without environmental sustainability is antithetical to the tenets of development.

Speaking at a training workshop on “Managing Production, Operations And Supply Chain for Sustainability” Dr Opanuga alluded to the impact of environmental pollution while emphasizing the need for production managers to achieve production goals and objectives sustainably.

He said the Institute was partnering Optimum Resources Limited and the College of Production & Operations Management- COPOM to further deepen the application of management principles and techniques to production and operations in Industries.

“The management of production, operations and supply chain or the application of management to any area of knowledge is what we call applied management. Management can be applied to engineering, medicine, finance, human resources, technology, banking, marketing, logistics and so on. Basically, when it is applied to public service we call it public administration and when it is applied to business we call it business administration. But it is much more than this as it entails the use of practical tools, action learning,  case methods and other approaches devoid of theory” he stated.

“For instance we have  demonstrated  to the trainees today that production management is not just about converting raw materials into finished goods and that part of the resources production managers must manage include the markets and technology. This will enable them to be concerned with innovation, process improvement and effective delivery of customer service” he concluded.
